Junior Year – Top 10 Highlights

hello & happy august!

Summer has gone by in the blink of an eye and is quickly coming to an end. In exactly ONE week I will be back at Liberty and will be moving into my dorm for my  * SENIOR * year! I’ve been thinking about it a lot and it’s already so bittersweet to acknowledge the fact that this is my last year living on campus, and that this sweet season is coming to an end. As I move forward in anticipation for what this final semester will hold, I wanted to pause and take a moment to highlight my top ten favorite moments from my junior year!

TOP TEN HIGHLIGHTS FROM JUNIOR YEAR

1. Calligraphy Night with the guys & gals of Commons 1 Floor 2! // this was one of the very first hall events we did and it was so special because I got to lead this night with one of my friends & fellow graphic designer, Jen. It was such a fun night of getting to know the people that I was living on the same hall with, and I absolutely loved sharing my passion with them and seeing them create signs for their dorms and cards for friends!

2. King’s Dominion day trip with Caleb!! // I had never been to any amusement park other than Disney Land and Disney World, and my sweet guy set out to change that. I’m just gonna brag on him for a moment – he worked so hard to save portions of his paycheck for a few months in order to save up enough money to buy us park tickets & I am forever thankful that he did because it was SO. MUCH. FUN!

3. Liberty Football Games!! // I truly love attending Liberty’s home football games, even though I’m not a huge football follower, LOL. There’s just something so exciting about being in the college football atmosphere – dressing up in school colors and going all out, all the other students showing up with school pride, hanging out with friends, the school cheers and the songs they play when we score. I love it! I specifically loved this one game where it was incredibly hot outside and to cool off I went and got Caleb & I some frozen lemonade (best decision ever – so refreshing). The next thing I knew… literally EVERYONE around me went and got some frozen lemonade! It had a domino effect and I thought it was so funny.

4. Being reunited with this girl – SARA LIN!! // this girl right here is one of my camp besties from when I worked at Carolina Creek Christian Camp the summer after my freshman year. She lives in Texas and I hadn’t seen her since camp… and she came to Lynchburg to visit a whole bunch of people and I felt so privileged to be one of them!! We only had a few hours to spend together, but they were full of lots of laughs and I cherished it so much. The only thing missing was our other camp bestie, Katie!

5. My birthday!! // these sweet friends made my birthday so special this past year. from leaving me sticky notes around the room, to decorating my door with balloons, to giving me such thoughtful gifts, to sharing a meal with me at my favorite restaurant… they made me feel so special & blessed!!

6. Going to get ice cream with Lauren & returning with the entire ice cream carton!! // this is by far one of the funniest memories I have from my entire college experience. Lauren & I went downstairs to the Baskin Robins in our dorm building to get some ice cream… and somehow we ended up returning with the entire ice cream carton (it was almost empty, but there was definitely more than enough for both of us still in there!) because the people working were joking around with us & ended up just giving us the whole thing. Oh, but shhhh…. we weren’t supposed to say where we got it from. 😉

7. Celebrating this beauty as she went from Miss to Mrs!! // this sweet friend is such a big blessing in my life & I loved being a part of the days she needed to talk through wedding plans, hearing about her excitement, and celebrating her at her bridal party!!

8. Being a part of this leadership team!! // WOW, WOW, WOW!! My heart is so full when I think of the blessing it was to be a part of hall ministry with this group of gals!! this picture is from our leadership retreat, which was definitely a highlight of serving with them. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of girls who are so full of Jesus and so encouraging and fun to be around!!

9. This community group!! // another WOW, WOW, WOW!! this group of beauties (minus 2 who are not pictured) were my community group this past year – we met up as a group on Wednesday nights to talk about life & Jesus, and we tried to do fun things together every once in a while. they are such an amazing group of girls and I love them so much and am so thankful to have been in community with them my junior year!!

10. being roomies with this girl!! // it was truly like having a sleepover every night with Cat. she is so funny & joyful and our room was almost always full of giggles! she also asks some pretty deep, thought-provoking questions and we had many life-contemplating, God-seeking conversations. she made me feel comfortable enough to share my burdens & tears when those times arose and is such a discerning & loving friend. rooming with her was my favorite!!!

junior year was a really great one – honestly, my best year of college yet. these 10 highlights are just a tiny glimpse of everything that it really was! reliving these memories as I have written them out have been so fun & have made my heart so full. I am living in such a blessed season of life, and I am looking forward to everything that awaits me as I enter the final chapter!!
