Hello everyone! Welcome to my first blog post! I am starting this blog as a way to document my adventure at college and share with all of you everything that’s been happening in my life at Liberty! So, since you’re reading this, you know what that means? The adventure has begun! After four years of knowing where I wanted to go to college and constant planning for it once I got accepted, I’m here on campus, and the adventure has begun! I’ve been here at Liberty for four days, but it still hasn’t sunk in that I’m actually here. I feel like I’m at a summer camp, or I’m here for “College For A Weekend”. However, I have been soaking up every moment and I’m absolutely loving all of it!

It all started on Tuesday when I met my roommate and her family for dinner the night before move in day. It was such a special moment, and it felt like a reunion rather than meeting for the first time. I’ve been so blessed by how God put us together, and it’s been a great springboard into all college has to offer by having her as my friend!

Then on Wednesday, I moved into my dorm. When we pulled up in front of my dorm building, we were met with cheers and excitement from student helpers that made me feel like they had been waiting for me specifically to arrive. “WELCOME TO LIBERTY!!!!” They all greeted me as I hopped out of the car. There was an army of them, about fifteen or so, who all helped me shuttle my belongings inside. (Luckily I’m on the first floor ;)) They were all so friendly, it truly felt like they were welcoming me home into their family!! I spent the entire day unpacking and putting things into place with the help of my amazing family. It was a looonnggg day, but so exciting!!

On Thursday, I spent the day doing last minute errands with my family and spending all the time I could with them. I had to say “see ya later” to them that evening and it was rough. I was a mess, but my roommate and I got our minds off of our families leaving by going and exploring campus, going to a freshman only event with free food (because whenever there’s free food, you go!) and giveaways, followed by a night of bingo. I met some new friends and had some good laughs, so my night ended very well!

Yesterday, Friday, I attended New Student Orientation and New Student Convocation, a meet & greet with my department of study, a Welcome Week Dinner at the football stadium, and a soccer game!! I had an adventure with my school ID locking me out of the dining hall at breakfast, but the rest of the day was smooth sails!! It was actually a really good day. So many really good things happened. Two of my favorite parts were: 1) when the freshmen, Class of 2020, were invited onto the football field for a group picture, and they posed us so we formed an “LU”, and 2) when my roommate and I got back to our dorm, we ordered pizza with another girl on our hall, and all three of us sat in the middle of my room, talking & laughing over slices of pepperoni and cheese. I laugh because it was 10 o’clock at night and we ordered pizza. Does that make me an official college student? 😉 It was just so fulfilling in a way I can’t explain.

So far, even though classes haven’t started yet, I’m loving this new adventure I’m embarking on! I’m loving spending time with my roommate and the laughs we share morning, noon, and night. I’m loving keeping our door propped open and having girls on the hall stop by to say hi. I’m loving meeting new people around campus and hearing about their dreams for the future. I’m loving the welcoming atmosphere that makes campus feel like home.I’m loving how the presence of God is so tangible everywhere I go.

If all this has happened in only four days, I can’t wait for everything that God has planned for the next four years!! The concept of college life is still scary and I have my moments where I’m nervous about my classes, but I have a confident feeling that this is where I’m supposed to be! God has blessed me all over campus this past week by numerous different people who have said things like, “You are exactly where you’re supposed to be”, “You have made the best decision of your life by choosing to come to school here”, and “You have not made a mistake by coming here!” And even though those people weren’t talking directly to me, it felt like God was talking to my heart through them.

It’s amazing to know I’m right where I need to be. And as I continue to experience new and exciting things as classes start, I’m so excited to continue sharing with you what I’m learning and doing! Thank you for reading up on what I’ve been up to, and for having a role in my life. I have so much love for all of you!

Until next time,

Kailynn
